Design Scheme #6

As the previously separated teams reunified after creating separate schemes, students sought to create a single design that combined the best elements of the different proposals. The design below likely represents a scheme reasonably close to what will be the final result. Note the continued use of the chain water collection system, the central breezeway, and the large wooden deck emanating from between the two containers.

Design Scheme #5

After the four initial design schemes were developed and presented, the students were divided into two new design groups. Each group was to separately assimilate the best features of the previous proposals and develop them into a single, finalized design. Below is the first of these such attempts, which focused specifically on creating an orthogonal layout:

Design Scheme #4

This proposal is the last of the four initial design strategies presented by the Arch 418 studio to the students of the Project School. Developed by Chris Baile, Adam McGuire, Hank Mezza, and Dave Smith, the design prominently features the use of a single interior space constructed between two separate shipping containers. When presented to the students of the Project School on January 20, the children were particularly enthusiastic about the use of a chain installation which captures and delivers water after rainfall.

Design Scheme #3

This proposal for a shipping container design was created by Zach Grajewski, Jordan Inman, and Katie Werner, and was presented to the Project School students on January 20. The idea of an open, yet covered space between the two containers was a popular one, and would continue to be explored in subsequent designs.
